    Africa: DRC honored by 18 Shippers’ Councils!

    The DRC again in the spotlight, with the appointment of the Director General of the Multimodal Freight Management Office (OGEFREM), Patient Sayiba Tambwe as President of the ninth session of the General Assembly of the Union of Councils African Loaders who will hold in Cotonou.

    The announcement was made this Thursday, June 13, 2019, by the president of this body, at the opening of this meeting in Kinshasa.

    This inaugural session was attended by 18 African countries. They are represented either by their directors general or by other members of the Shippers’ Council.

    According to Erve Sebastien Ilboudo, president of the UCCA, the choice of the general director of OGEFREM is justified by the quality of his work and the results already recorded since taking office.

    « We have seen it for a long time before deciding », he said.

    In turn, the successful candidate thanked the president of the UCCA and promised to bring a new impetus to this body. He then focused his message on the role and importance of the Shippers Council from its inception to these days. Several achievements to his credit.

    Finally, Patient Sayiba pleaded for the UCCA to remain financially independent.

    Azarias Ruberwa, Deputy Prime Minister and Interim Minister of Transport and Communication Channels encouraged participants to reflect on the different challenges.

    He suggested the creation of the National Committee for Exchange Facilitation, the professionalization of shippers, the regulation of port tariffs, the question of traceability of cargo, the ratification of a convention to name only a few.

    RE(READ) : The African Shippers Council will be held from 13 to 15 June in Kinshasa

    The participants will close this meeting this Friday, June 14, 2019. The resulting recommendations will mark the path for the smooth running of the 9th day of the Chargers Council Union.

    The day of Saturday will be rather recreational to allow these guests to enjoy the tourist wealth of the city of Kinshasa.
