[RELEASE] – After the very successful events of April 2019 in Washington and Lagos in November 2018, Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) returns to Addis Ababa in November. Through a strategic partnership with Congo Business Network, AFTS seeks to engage Congolese professionals and entrepreneurs who are working to revolutionize the digital ecosystem in Africa.
On November 11, technology and finance leaders from Africa and the United States will meet in Addis Ababa to discuss the future of financial technology. Among its strategic partners is Congo Business Network, an international network of Congolese professionals and entrepreneurs.
Financial technology, or fintech, disrupts banking, finance, and even the flow of money as we know it. It is a global phenomenon, but in Africa more than elsewhere, the impact has the potential to be both a social and economic transformator. This is particularly true in the Congo, where digital entrepreneurs are the pioneers of the first mobile platforms that reverse a legacy of financial exclusion and very limited banking infrastructure. Opportunities for innovation and investment abound.
AFTS is designed to bring together these innovators, as well as investors, regulators and policy makers, to discuss the growth of these disruptive technologies in Africa. More than $ 2 billion in private capital and venture capital will be represented at the November event, as well as start-ups from the continent and representatives of several African financial institutions and central banks.
Topics for discussion will include the future of banks, venture capital, policy and regulation, blockchain, digital identity, remittances and financial inclusion.
The organizers’ mission is to enable the most promising Congolese start-ups to gain more visibility in the international media, raise funds from investors and find future business partners to accelerate their growth.
