Africa: UCCA, the resolutions of the meeting of Kinshasa!
The 18 African Chargers’ Councils have all actively participated in the Kinshasa meeting from 13th to 15th June 2019 at Kimpinski River Congo Hotel. This work resulted in several resolutions revealed to the public at the closing ceremony.
Indeed, all these recommendations converge on the need for members to strengthen their collaboration and improve their logistical support capacities in the era of the establishment of the Continental Free Trade Area.
Main resolutions
Members of the Union of African Shippers’ Councils agreed among other things on:
1. to reiterate their commitments to work for the emergence of their respective economies, economic integration and the competitiveness of their respective countries at the global level;
2. the holding, next October, of the ninth day of the African Loaders, which will be a great meeting of importers and exporters;
3. take an active part in the effective implementation of the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA);
4. pool efforts to ensure that the various Chargers Councils play a leading role in boosting African economies.
In fact, one of the major challenges for UCCA members is to have strong armaments like those of other continents. For this, they are committed to harmonizing views in the search for common interests.
« The goal of the CFTA is to achieve the industrialization of African countries. And this requires the establishment of a common strategy », said Patient Sayiba, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the meeting in Kinshasa and Director General of Ogefrem.
Therefore, he insisted, it is no longer easy to live in autarky, all African countries must come together, like the European Union and the United States.
