The President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi, announced the creation of the National Anti-Corruption Agency. At the end of the day on Tuesday 17 September 2019, he was speaking to around 100 entrepreneurs from the Fédération des entreprises de Belgique (FEB) at their headquarters in Brussels.
The President of the Republic responded to the concerns of Belgian economic operators expressed by the President of the FEB, Bernard Gilliot, in particular regarding assurances on political and macroeconomic stability and good governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Indeed, the Congolese Executive is firmly committed to improving the legal arsenal to fight corruption. A proposal for an organic law on the establishment, organization and functioning of the National Anti-Corruption Agency, initiated by Henry Thomas Lokondo, a national deputy, has been submitted to the Office of the National Assembly.
In addition, there is the proposed anti-corruption law, which is an initiative of the national deputy, Jean-Pierre Pasi Zapamba.
These two texts will be examined and adopted by the elected representatives of the people during this ordinary parliamentary session which opened on 16 September 2019.
Therefore, it is possible that by the end of the year, this National Anti-Corruption Agency will be operational in the DRC.
Belgian businessmen, for their part, have clearly demonstrated their willingness to contribute to the economic development of the DRC.
