Bralima is firmly committed to respecting the seven principles of women’s empowerment in the DRC. Its managing director, Victor Madiela, signed on Friday, July 26, 2019, with the resident representative of Onu-Femmes, Awa Ndiaye Seck. This signature reveals the importance that this brewing business places on gender balance and the advancement of women.
Indeed, the seven Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set of reflections designed to help the private sector focus on key elements needed to promote gender equality in the workplace, market and within the community.
In this momentum, the Bralima has proved particularly model, presenting the architecture and composition of its executive committee in which the representation of women is exactly 30%. It also has a program called « Inclusion and Diversity » which is a strategy for promoting gender balance among its staff.
The resident representative of UN-Women in the DRC, in her words, congratulated Bralima for the efforts made to promote women within it.
Awa Ndiaye Seck recalled the importance of continuing to do more to maintain the balance within the company, which will be one of the major growth indicators, both in terms of revenue and opportunities for new partnerships.
The seven Principles for the Empowerment of Women were launched in 2010 by the Global Compact and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and subtitled « For the business too, equality is a good deal. »
