Stakeholders are invited to apply for success in the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The name comes from strategist economist Al Kitenge. He spoke on the theme: « CSR in the mines ». It was in the framework of one of the workshops organized, this Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the French week Kinshasa.
For Al Kitenge, there are two main players in Corporate Social Responsibility. The first actor is the regulator and controller state. And the second player is the private companies that exploit the minerals.
If the companies have the obligation to be disciplined in the observance of the regulation in the matter, the State must impose and ensure the discipline.
« CSR is therefore very low at the practice level because of the bad governance that is due to permanent conflicts of interest in mining companies. As a result, the Congolese state is not in a position to give its people the rights they are entitled to », said Al Kitenge.
The DRC has a law that governs the mining sector in this case the mining code. However, experts make a bitter finding that most mining companies do not respect the commitments made. And they are not adequately monitored as it should be.
Speaking of mining craftsmanship, it can also be observed that mining crafts do not produce substantial wealth in the country. However, it causes too many deaths in landslides. For lack of supervision, the mining craft enriches intermediaries.
It is in the face of these deplorable realities that Al Kitenge invites the Congolese State to assume its responsibility in this matter.
