The head of state, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi has just begun this Thursday, June 13, 2019, a visit that will bring successively in Tanzania and Burundi. For this double shift, he put his cursor on the economy and security issues.

While these two official visits are part of the normalization and strengthening of diplomatic relations with all neighboring DRC countries, in Dar-es-Salam, President Tshisekedi will meet his Tanzanian counterpart, John Magufuli.

It is expected that the two heads of state exchange among other things on the economic prospects between these two countries that share a long lake border.

Indeed, the DRC and Tanzania have agreed since 2016, at the time of President Kabila, to continue the oil exploration and gas joint activities in Lake Tanganyika.

The two countries have even signed, in Dar es Salaam, a memorandum of understanding for the exploration and development of hydrocarbons in common in Lake Tanganyika. Certainly, in the sense of business continuity, this subject will be on the menu.

In Bujumbura, in addition to economic exchanges, the President of the Republic will not fail to discuss with his Burundian counterpart security issues in full of the Ruzizi. This region is experiencing an upsurge in cases of robberies, kidnappings and theft of livestock.

This situation also affects traders established on the Bukavu-Uvira axis. Burundian FNL rebels accused of insecurity at the border between the DRC and Burundi.

A culvert connects the locality of Gatumba Burundian side with the locality of Kavimvira in the DRC. It lies on a strategic axis for the economies of Burundi and the DRC. It is a strategic place where goods come from Burundi to the villages of the province of South Kivu.

In addition, President Tshisekedi is visibly more than determined to strengthen economic ties with neighboring countries.

In the work of Malabo, he pulled out the agreement in principle of the financing by the African Development Bank (ADB) of the work of Inga III, one of the integrating projects.

It thus adds to what has already been acquired for the construction of the road-rail bridge connecting Kinshasa and Brazzaville presented as integrative projects.

From the top of the Malabo platform, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi took the floor to support regional initiatives that could boost African development.

After attending the annual meetings of the African Development Bank (ADB) group in Malabo, the head of state Felix Antoine Tshisekedi made a technical stop in Kinshasa before leaving for Dar-Es-Salaam and Bujumbura.
