DRC: Ogefrem-Maersk agreement materializes FERI underwriting constraint

The Multimodal Freight Management Office (OGEFREM) and the Congolese subsidiary of the world shipowner Maersk have just materialized the compulsory nature of the subscription of the « FERI » Electronic Information Sheet for Importation for any cargo destined for the DRC.
Indeed, this materialization follows the signature of a collaboration agreement signed in Kinshasa on May 24, 2019 between Patient Sayiba, the general manager of Ogefrem and Michel Koffi, the general manager of Maersk DRC.
According to the boss of Ogefrem, the signing of this agreement with Maersk is part of the strict observance of the regulations on the transport and traceability of Congolese freight on boarding, ie in all ports of embarkation. where the shipments leave for the DRC.
« This agreement also supports the reduction of the time in the customs clearance process by the advance transmission via OGEFREM of the cargo cover documents to the One Stop Shop, interface of all services of the customs cordon, » said Patient Sayiba Tambwe.
RE (READ OUT): OGEFREM, the new FERI comes into effect this 1st of December 2018!
In addition, the two institutions are committed to continuing their collaboration in other areas of common interest, including the development of logistics platforms to facilitate DRC trade.
The ceremony was attended by Regional Director Maersk for Central and West Africa, Thomas Theeuwes and some senior executives from Ogefrem.
As a reminder, the Multimodal Freight Management Office (OGEFREM) has embarked on a process of reconquering Congolese total cargo coverage.
Thus, the approach for Patient Sayiba Tambwe and his team, aims to strengthen the system of traceability of Congolese freight, from end to end (from the supplier to the consumer) and to keep reliable statistics in order to better promote foreign trade .
