[RELEASE] – Internet traffic through the national fiber optic backbone of the Congo is not managed from Rwanda. The general management of the Congolese Society of Posts and Telecommunications (SCPT) has just made public an update reached Zoom Eco. Below, the content:
SCPT’S DEVELOPMENT ON INTERNET MANAGEMENT AND DISTRIBUTION
In view of the unfounded information, likely to mislead opinion, widely disseminated in social networks as well as in some media by a so-called expert in data consulting, the General Directorate of the SCPT brings to the attention of all that follows:
1. The SCPT has state-of-the-art internet management and distribution facilities as well as the creation of data transmission circuits.
2. The internet services of the SCPT meet the international standard and guarantee the security and confidentiality for all users. These are mainly telecommunications operators as well as Internet service providers to whom the SCPT has been providing high-quality services for several years in a transparent manner.
3. All the management equipment of the Internet services of the SCPT are exclusively installed on the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These are the many high-tech servers, routers and very high-speed fiber optic transmission equipment.
4. Internet traffic through the national fiber optic backbone is not managed from Rwanda or any other foreign country, contrary to the false and misleading allegations made by an alleged expert for purposes not yet clarified.
5. All activities of the SCPT are conducted in strict accordance with the laws of the Republic as well as the independence and sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The General Directorate of the SCPT reserves the right to appeal to the judicial authorities against any person who, with the intention of harming, damages its brand image.
