DRC: Thambwe to strengthen the role of the Senate and strengthen parliamentary control!
Alexis Thambwe Mwamba is invested by the Common Front for Congo (FCC) as presidential candidate of the Senate. The vision of this elected senator from the province of Maniema for the upper house of Parliament is in two directions, namely: the imperative need to strengthen the positioning and role of the Senate within the institutions of the Republic; and the imperative of establishing control over government action, in close collaboration with the National Assembly.
Challenges to overcome
The challenges are many. And Zoom Eco is back on a few. As representatives of the provinces, the main focus is on ensuring the effectiveness and implementation of the equalization fund for the benefit of all these entities. This will have the advantage of reinforcing their functioning and thus guaranteeing their long-term development. For Thambwe Mwamba, it is a question of national interest which is of an immediate nature.
The second challenge is the modernization of the Senate, which remains one of its priorities. At a time when the most recent technologies allow a better interaction between the people and their institutions, the Congolese Senate should not remain on the sidelines. Hence, the need to embark on a new trajectory of renovation and transformation.
According to the presidential candidate of the Senate, this includes the digitization of services, the equipment of computer and digital tools, but by adopting innovative management methods of its heritage, its administration and its budget, which are in line with the most current and most relevant models.
The other challenge is to ensure full peace of mind for senators and their administration. Here, the goal is to ensure a regulatory framework and a work environment commensurate with their missions. But also to ensure that the conduct of these missions is done in the respect of ethics, fairness, and especially safe from interference.
Finally, Alexis Thambwe Mwamba intends to work for a balance to be observed and strengthened in the heads of its various bodies (Plenary Assembly, Bureau, Conference of Presidents, Standing Committees and Political and Provincial Groups, etc.).
Who is Thambwe Mwamba?
A 76-year-old senator from Kasongo territory in Maniema province, Alexis Thambwe Mwamba has a double degree in « Political and Diplomatic Sciences » and « Law« . His biography indicates that he also holds a Master’s degree in Labor Law and Sociology and another « honoris causa » degree from Doctor in Philosophy.
