DRC: the 2nd edition of the Belgian week in Kinshasa scheduled from 14 to 19 October 2019

« The diversification of the Congolese economy, what Belgian-Congolese contribution? » is the theme chosen for the second edition of the Belgian week in Kinshasa. The outlines of this major event were unveiled by the Organizing Committee during a press conference held on Wednesday, October 09, 2019, at the Belgian Embassy in Kinshasa.
Seven sectors are concerned by this diversification. These are agriculture and nature conservation; health; telecommunications and digital; construction, infrastructure, transport and logistics; energy; education and social.
For Johan Indekeu, Belgium’s ambassador to the DRC, the second edition comes after the warming of relations between the two countries, and also after the visit of the Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi, to Belgium. A visit culminating in the signing of several partnership contracts.
« The Belgian week shows the importance we attach to the relationship between our two countries. It is also an opportunity for us to demonstrate Belgium’s position in the DRC in different areas, » he said.
For this second edition, two sites are to host this event, Pullman Hotel Kinshasa for the first day (Monday, October 14) and the Texaf Bilembo area for the rest of the days. The opening and closing evenings will be held at the Embassy and the Ambassador’s Residence respectively.
The programme also includes round tables on agriculture and nature conservation; construction, infrastructure, transport and logistics, energy. A meeting of women entrepreneurs as well as a day on green business, agro-industry and energy are on the agenda.
37 sponsors, whose stands will be placed in the Bilembo area, contributed and invested in the success of this 2019 edition, the Organizing Committee said.
The latter is composed of the Belgian Embassy represented by the Ambassador, the Belgian-Congolese-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the Bilembo area and the economic and commercial representation of the Brussels, Flemish and Walloon regions.
