DRC: the five perspectives of the CENI after the Nangaa team!

The president of the CENI, Corneille Nangaa not only assessed the electoral process but also gave the perspectives for the next leaders. He evoked them, this Friday, May 23, 2019, before the media bosses at the Pullman hotel in Kinshasa.
The five perspectives will allow the future leaders of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to perpetuate the achievements of the mandate of Nangaa and put them to the benefit of the population.
It is:
1. You have to clear the question on the CENI, that is to say on its current composition. Should we keep the organic law that advocates the office is composed of 3 members of civil society; 4 of the opposition and 6 of the ruling majority? And that the president of the CENI be chosen from the members of the civil society?
On this subject, the Catholic Church advocates a non-political CENI. In the meantime, a CENI without political parties would be a source of much more suspicion. For Corneille Nangaa, this question deserves a good reflection.
2. The holding of municipal and local elections. According to the president of the electoral center, the technical prerequisites for these two elections, are there. So, it is possible to hold these elections now if only if there is good political will.
3. The administrative census of the population. This will make it possible to build a permanent civil status file. In this regard, the legal framework provides for three types of census: the administrative census conducted by the ONIP; the scientific census conducted by the INS under the supervision of the Ministry of Planning and the electoral census conducted by the CENI.
Faced with this reality, Corneille Nangaa advocates pooling all efforts in a single instance.
4. The consolidation of the achievements of the CENI. Because, CENI is one of the most professional electoral commissions of Africa. This consolidation must go through training and retraining.
5. The actual assessment of the electoral process to identify weaknesses and strengths. This will lead to the implementation of reforms.
