DRC: Two new brokerages approved by ARCA

Insurance Okapi Sarl and Ascoma RDC Sarl are the two new insurance brokerage companies recently authorized to operate in DR Congo. The Insurance Regulatory and Supervisory Authority (ARCA) has stated that it has agreed.
« Therefore, it is forbidden for any other broker not authorized by the ARCA to operate throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo, » she said in a statement on September 6 at Zoom Eco.
The insurance regulator insists on scrupulous compliance with Article 286 of the French Insurance Code, which prohibits the taking out of direct insurance abroad for a risk related to a person, property or liability located on the territory. national or to a company not approved by him. .
To him to warn: « Any violation of the aforementioned provision is punishable by a fine of 50% of premiums issued outside. In case of repetition, the fine is increased to 100% of said premiums. published at the expense of convicted persons or companies liable to civil liability (Article 445 of the Insurance Code). »
With these new approvals granted by the ARCA, DR Congo now has four brokerage firms, including Allied Insurance Brokers Sarl (AIB) and Gras Savoye RDC SA, which were the first two to be authorized on March 28, 2019.
On the same date, four insurance companies were approved. They are: Activa Assurances RDC, Congo SA Financial Insurance Company, Rawsur SA and Rawsur Life SA. Sonas SA is authorized to operate, in accordance with the law, pending the results of its compliance process.
« The population and economic operators can therefore freely subscribe to any insurance required by any of these five companies, without restriction or restriction, » the ARCA recommended.
As a reminder, all these companies are responsible for the quality of products and services adapted to the needs of the market. They get the discharge of the ARCA after convincing them of their ability to realize their ambition to participate in the development of the DR Congo and the promotion of local content in both management and shareholding.
