The European Union remains committed to supporting reforms for democracy and social progress in the DRC. And this, in accordance with the firm commitments made by the head of state, Felix Tshisekedi. The announcement was made by his Chargé d’affaires, Guillaume Chartrain. It was during the celebration of the European Day, May 8, 2019 in Kinshasa.
« I reiterate the readiness of the EU to support the modernization of public financial management and to fight against the corruption that plagues the development of this magnificent country and hinders the emergence of a middle class, the engine of progress », declared Guillaume Chartrain.
Reliable, stable and predictable partner to promote the assets of the DRC and its invaluable contribution to the common heritage, symbolized by its biodiversity, the European Union wishes to see this great country of Central Africa to have access to 40 billion euros d investments it has made across the continent.
Guillaume Chartrain said : « Private investment, in order to be stimulated, needs peace, security and stability, as well as a climate conducive to investment and a favorable business environment. This includes macroeconomic stability and financial systems open to increased credit to the private sector. »
Hence, the need for EU support in implementing the necessary reforms through the expertise of its agents and support for the advocacy of European companies, active in many sectors represented by the European Economic Circle.

This approach, part of the new Africa-Europe Alliance, aims to encourage investment, identify value chains, support education and skills development to enhance employability, diversify economies, stimulate trade and improve the business climate.
It responds to the European desire to deepen its economic and trade relations with Africa through a policy focused on investment and job creation. This is the reinvention of the Europe-Africa partnership expressed in September 2018 by the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker.
