Kinshasa: Towards the adoption of the Urban Transport Master Plan by the Provincial Assembly
The Kinshasa Provincial Assembly (APK) examines since Monday, July 29, in plenary session, the draft edict approving the Urban Transport Master Plan of the city of Kinshasa. Its adoption will enable the various multilateral partners to finance a number of projects related to urban planning and urban transport in the capital.
This is the case of Japan, which is waiting for this document to proceed with the rehabilitation and widening of University Avenue (nearly 10 km). It will also be a question of modernizing the railway sector to allow the fluidity of the movements of populations in the city of Kinshasa.
The president of the Provincial Assembly of Kinshasa, Godefroid Mpoyi, quoted by the ACP, claims to have had discussions with officials of the Japanese Embassy in the DRC, who are calling for the rapid adoption of this law. For him, it is important to make this edict available to these partners before 1 October 2019.
« We had a long meeting with all the members of the Japanese Embassy and I assure you that all want us to adopt this document within the deadline. We must be diligent in making this edict available to the executive for the credibility of our institutions, « he told the same source.
For his part, the deputy Rufin Bayambudila said that this is the mobility of Kinois. With a population of over 10 million, the city needs the tools that will allow people to move. It is also about planning and on this point, Japanese cooperation has funded the development of this urban transport master plan.
