Since the occupation of mining areas in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo by M23 terrorists, Rwanda, which has no gold deposits on its territory, has been exporting at least eight hundred (800) kilos of gold a day. This volume represents an amount of sixty-four (64) million dollars, at a rate of 80,000 USD per kilo sold.
These revelations were made late on the evening of Tuesday February 18, 2025, by the Congolese Minister of Mines, Kizito Pakabomba, during a special briefing.
Paul Kagame’s country has been indexed by numerous reports from United Nations experts denouncing a criminal organization whose aim is to orchestrate the systematic plundering of the mining resources of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Since the occupation of the Rubaya mine, astronomical figures have been recorded for these economic crimes.
“150 tonnes of coltan are exported by Rwanda through the illegal exploitation of the Rubaya mine”, denounces the Minister of Mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
According to him, this capital flight is preventing the country from financing its immense development needs.
On the international market, 1 kilo of coltan costs 70 USD. Rwanda’s criminal enterprise is thus costing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) over 10 million USD.
