Alain Kaninda, Director General of the Autorité de Régulation et de Contrôle des Assurances (ARCA), was one of the members of the jury for the 3rd edition of the Trophées de l’Assurance d’Afrique, held on February 18, 2025 in Casablanca, Morocco.
This year, particular emphasis was placed on French-speaking Africa. The case of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), whose insurance sector is booming.
The choice of Alain Kaninda Ngalula, Director General of the Autorité de Régulation et de Contrôle des Assurances (ARCA), as a member of the jury is a recognition of the DRC’s performance since the liberalization of the Insurance sector in 2015.

The event highlighted the efforts of companies in the insurance sector to innovate and respond to the continent’s economic and social challenges.
The Trophées de l’Assurance d’Afrique is now considered a benchmark for assessing best practices and stimulating excellence in this field, which is crucial to the continent’s stability and economic growth.
Through ARCA, the Democratic Republic of Congo is stepping up its efforts to energize a market that is still in a consolidation phase. The aim is to make insurance a key lever for Congolese economic development.
10 prizes awarded
A total of ten (10) prizes were awarded, plus a special jury prize.
“These awards once again underline the dynamism and innovation of the insurance sector in Africa, reinforcing digital transformation and the exploitation of new technologies to better serve policyholders,” said the organizers.
1. Insurtech” prize: the Assuraf company was singled out for its online application facilitating the underwriting and management of insurance products in Senegal.
2. Regional Market” prize: four (4) prizes were awarded. Marsh Morocco won the “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” prize for its concept of health care for policyholders and company employees.
3. Product award: EPEGA Assurance won this prize for its health insurance offered to students from sub-Saharan Africa studying in Morocco.
4. Technology award: this went to Cabek, which combines insurance expertise and artificial intelligence in digital kiosks.
5. Operations Optimization Award: Véosmart received this award for its operations management platform.
6. Major Accounts” category: La Marocaine Vie won the ‘Innovation Award’ for its customer experience.
7. Service Innovation Award: Sanlam Maroc was awarded the trophy for its health insurance dedicated to long-term care.
8. Prize for innovation in corporate social responsibility (CSR): awarded to AXA Assurance Maroc for its mobile clinics.
9. Product Innovation Award: AtlantaSanad won this prize for its concept of covering mechanical breakdowns on used vehicles.
10. Special Jury Prize: this went to Wafa Assurance for its inclusive insurance innovation in Africa.
