The Canadian government has announced a US$15 million humanitarian aid package to meet the humanitarian needs of a number of people affected by Rwanda’s war of aggression in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The announcement was made in a statement issued this Monday, March 3, 2025, by Canada’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs; International Development; and Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development.
“The humanitarian situation in the eastern DRC has reached a critical level, and Canada remains committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable receive life-saving assistance. Canada is announcing $15 million in humanitarian aid for the Democratic Republic of Congo to meet the needs of those affected by the crisis,” reads the statement.
The US$15 million in aid represents a significant step forward in Canada’s efforts to support victims of the war in the DRC.
The Canadian government continues to monitor the situation and assess future needs to ensure ongoing assistance to the affected populations.
