DRC: Transco’s wage demands should be included in the 2025 budget
On Wednesday November 20, 2024, the President of the National Assembly, Vital Kamerhe, reassured the union delegation of the Société congolaise des transports (Transco) that their wage claims would be taken into account in the Finance Bill 2025, currently under review.
Didier Kimbumbu, President of the Transco union, welcomed this commitment: “The President has promised us clear instructions to the Economic and Financial Commission to integrate our salary scale before the budget is adopted”.
The pay scale, drawn up by a Ministry of Transport commission, reflects a long-standing demand by Transco staff to improve their living conditions.
This commitment marks a key step for Transco, a strategic player in the DRC transport sector, and underlines the importance of social dialogue in budgetary decisions.
Agents now hope that these promises will be translated into concrete measures during the next parliamentary deliberations.
