The Democratic Republic of the Congo is represented by the Director General of the Multimodal Freight Management Office, Patient Sayiba Tambwe, at the meeting of the Union of African Shippers’ Councils (UCCA), which opens on Wednesday, 02 October 2019 at the Sipopo Conference Centre in Malabo for 72 hours.
This meeting is being held on the sidelines of the ninth African Shipper’s Day, which will be held from 21 to 25 October 2019 in Cotonou, Benin, under the chairmanship of the Director General of the Multimodal Freight Management Office, Patient Sayiba. Its main objective is to review the texts and the reform of the UCCA Standing Commissions.
Long before that, the Steering Committee of the Union of the African Shippers’ Council had met in ordinary session from 13 to 15 June 2019 at Kempiski Hotel in Kinshasa.
The participants in this meeting, all heads of Shippers’ Councils from other African countries, had discussed issues related to stabilization, trade facilitation in multimodal transport, and the continuation of discussions on tariff and non-tariff barriers to the transit of goods.

The Union of African Shipping Councils is a specialized body of the Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa (OMAOC). Its membership includes only shippers from West and Central Africa. Given the challenges of trade, the institution intends to invest the entire African region.
