Alain Kaninda, Director General of the Authority for the Regulation and Control of Insurance (ARCA), was received in audience on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, by the President of the National Assembly, Jeanine Mabunda. Objective: to discuss the progress made in the implementation of the reform in the insurance market in the DRC.
The two personalities reviewed the overall situation from the enactment of the law to the effectiveness of the liberalization of the insurance market.
« An important step has been taken. Because today, we have authorized and approved several insurance companies that are operational on the market. There are four new insurance companies and Sonas, « said Alain Kanyinda.
According to the report made to the press by the Director General of ARCA, it was first a question for him to present his civility and warm congratulations to the President of the National Assembly as the first woman to the head of this noble institution.
This interview also allowed him to present to Jeanine Mabunda the great progress made by the ARCA in the process of liberalization with the new companies that have been approved.
« We have presented to the President the work we are doing for the development of inclusive insurance which will allow insurance products to be offered at affordable rates for all of our population in order to meet the vision of the Head of the ‘State on social development,‘ said Alain Kaninda.
Welcoming the considerable progress made in this process, the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament has also been impressed by the difficulties encountered and what remains to be done.
In response to the information provided by the ARCA boss, the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament praised the efforts and results achieved so far by this reform.
In view of the difficulties encountered, Jeanine Mabunda expressed the wish to see the National Assembly pay close attention to the need to improve, in the medium term, the Insurance Code in force in the DRC.
This will allow the Congolese insurance market to be more adapted, accessible to all, dynamic and a carrier of economic growth.
