DRC: Amos Mbayo, a sports leader promoted Minister of Sports and Recreation!

Amos Mbayo Kitenge is the new Minister of Sports and Recreation of the Congo Rd. His appointment is greeted by more than one observer of Congolese sport, especially since he is a personality well known in sports circles as a sports leader and youth coach.

With his unparalleled seniority as financial advisor to the Ministry of Sports, Amos Mbayo has control over the operation of this cabinet and the challenges of the Congolese sports microcosm.

Moreover, this pastor has the advantage of having led the Congolese Olympic Committee, the Congolese Handball Federation and the « Handball Club Heritage » team with which he won the Kinshasa ladies’ championship last July without counting the fact that he was also chairman of the DCMP’s big supporters committee.

Athletes’ expectations

His expertise and his experience in the Congolese sports field are eagerly awaited to allow the sports movement to breathe new air. It will also be a question of thinking about the financing of certain sports disciplines not yet taken into account by the public treasury, while these are visible on the continental stage and well beyond.

The promotion of talent and the recognition of great sports glories ignored by time, the construction of sports facilities worthy of the name, and the completion of some work suspended like the project of municipal stadiums.

The minister will have the heavy responsibility also to ensure that the authorized bodies play their role properly to moralize the Congolese sportsmen as well as the supporters as for the protection of the sports infrastructures. Amos Mbayo will also strengthen the fight against the pouring of revenue and the culture of free or fraud that have taken up residence during various sports appointments.

Aware of his responsibilities

The new head of sports and recreation, Amos Mbayo Kitenge, promises to make every effort to meet this sector that is his passion.

« I am first president of the Congolese Olympic Committee (COC). I have all the sport politics with me. I hope that with the effort of all athletes, we will bring many innovations for the Congolese sport can take off. That’s why I’m going to start with the general states of sports. We will detect the evils that eat away at our sport, « he said a few hours after his appointment.

For once, actors and lovers of Congolese sport hope to have found a real mouthpiece of their daily difficulties. This in the vision and according to the missions that will be assigned by the Head of State.
