François PUJOLAS began by giving students an idea of the profession of diplomat whose main mission is to promote or defend the interests of their country.
According to him, there is a clear evolution which touches the life and the mode of work of diplomat.
Currently with the new technologies of information and communication (NICT) that are required in all areas, it also impacts on the profession of diplomat thus forcing him to adapt.
On this subject, François PUJOLAS gave a concrete example of communication with Fake news.
« Faced with these false news, diplomacy can only be part of the logic of having to communicate to exist. There is reason to be careful. Communicate, yes. But know what to communicate and who to do it, « said the ambassador of France in the DRC.
Apart from the communication aspect, he recalled the need to know how to manage negotiations, an art that can be learned on the job but requires experience.
Thirdly, the diplomat is obliged to know that he does not have a monopoly on the external relations of a State. This is the reason, he stressed, for having representatives of his activities. And mastery of English is very important in this century.
« The diplomat is also called to open to areas of technicalities and finally, he must know how to manage the nomadic side of families diplomats, » said François Pujolas.
