DRC: Government tightens conditions for new driving license with microchip
According to a timetable made public by the government, the first applicant will be able to obtain a driver’s license as early as November 24. And this time, the State seems determined to offer the driving license only to those eligible.
With this announcement, the government has just resolved a serious road safety problem across the country.
In a press release issued on this subject, the Ministry of Transport invites vehicle drivers to consult, from Monday November 24, 2024, the website of the National Commission for the Issuance of Driving Licenses to find out about the steps and formalities to be followed to obtain the new license.
For years, the Government has been fighting to relaunch the process of issuing a secure, biometric driving license with a microchip.
For Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, the unavailability of driving licenses is a major factor in road safety.
For years, all drivers of national vehicles have been driving without a license. As a result, even unqualified drivers are at the wheel, causing enormous damage.
