DRC: Japan grants USD 200,000 for two social projects in Kinshasa and Kikwit
Japan has just financed US$200,000 for two social projects in Kinshasa and Kikwit. They target the health and education sectors. The non-refundable grant contracts were signed on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Kinshasa.
« These two projects, funded for an amount of about US$200,000 as part of the non-repayable grant to local micro-projects contributing to human security, will provide appropriate medical services to more than 1,000 children per year in Limete municipality and a quality school environment for 720 students in Nzinda municipality in Kikwit city, » says an official statement received by Zom Eco.
The first project concerns the construction of the paediatric pavilion and the supply of medical equipment to the Dr. Yanga Medical Centre in the municipality of Limete. Dr. Jean-Jacques Yanga di Kidiamene, Coordinator of the Dr. Yanga Foundation (FDY), signed the contract jointly with the interim chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Japan in DR Congo.
The second project concerns the construction of the school buildings of the Mother Saint Paul School Complex in the Commune of Nzinda, Kikwit City, Kwilu Province. Sister Sabine Zara-Zara Mfwo Mfwo Mfumanki, Superior General and Legal President of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mary in Kwango, was the person authorized to commit their structure to this contract.
« Medical care and education were fundamental social services that were essential to a nation’s prosperity, » said Mr. Kentaro Minami.
He also reminded the two beneficiary organizations of their primary responsibility for the success of their respective projects, hoping that they will be carried out in compliance with standards and deadlines in order to offer a better future to the children of the DRC.
The Embassy of Japan was thanked by the beneficiaries for its support. The latter have reassured of their intention to implement these two projects in strict compliance with the commitments made.
The implementation of these two projects will strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Japanese and Congolese people.
