In ten years of existence, Kibali Gold Mine has contributed 2.7 billion US dollars to the Congolese economy. This total amount was paid by this company in the form of taxes, permits, infrastructure, salaries, payments to local suppliers, etc.

During this first decade, Kibali has grown to become one of the largest gold mines in the world. This statement was made by Mark Bristow at the 39th press conference of this mining company held this Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of existence Kibali, the boss of this company recalled the difficult conditions at the beginning of the installation Kibali to Doko in Haut Uele, a landlocked area, and dangerous to the time. Kibali settled there without taking into account all these obstacles.

Achievements in ten years
In mid-2019, Kibali remains on track to meet or exceed its 750,000 ounce gold production forecast. For the last year, he has become the operator of his underground mine, ranked as one of the most advanced in the global industry in terms of automation.

And this autonomous mine requires the transfer of specialized technical skills from expatriate instructors to Congolese workers in Kibali. Today, more than 90% of Kibali’s 5,000 employees and service providers are Congolese nationals.

On the infrastructure side, Kibali built hydroelectric plants; has set up ambitious Industrial Agro projects for the well-being of the local community. In addition, he continues to develop infrastructure around his mine with the asphatage of the national road to Uganda.
