The President of the National Assembly, Jeanine Mabunda Lioko invited women’s organizations to raise awareness for the participation of more women in local elections. It was during a conference-debate centered on the theme: « Awareness of local elections: I am a woman, I commit myself. An event organized by the Fondation Hirondelle, this Friday, June 21, 2019, in the conference room of INPESS.

In her speech, Jeanine Mabunda acknowledged the need to revise the electoral law to favor the emergence of women in deliberative and decision-making bodies. She also urged women to overcome and break stereotypes, cultural barriers that restrict women to the level of housewives, protocol or political animation.

« The woman must mobilize and fight to crystallize her competence and tear off the trust of other women and men, » she insisted.
