DRC: Makutano 2019, exchanges will focus on innovative growth levers

Published

on

500 business leaders, opinion leaders, institutions, private and public actors from 20 African and international countries will meet in Kinshasa from 6 to 7 September 2019, as part of the fifth edition of the Makutano Forum. Objective: to discuss the innovative levers necessary for the growth and competitiveness of the DRC.

Indeed, DR Congo is a country experiencing a new political and economic thrill. Between unused sectors, unused international funding, innovative financing, training, health and the progressive setting up of R & D laboratories, many subjects can be developed and require real measures.

Innovate to boost growth

If the idea is to think outside the box and to identify innovative axes adapted to the economic, geographical and cultural ecosystem, the organizers wanted to stress the need for the DR Congo to draw inspiration from its neighbors by including in its reflection international experts.

« During the Makutano 2019, they will all be gathered around concrete and strategic themes to boost the DRC’s growth in the face of major global upheavals: artificial intelligence, climate change, energy transition, sustainable economy, etc. The presence of President Felix Tshisekedi at the opening and closing of this event is a testament to the importance the executive also attaches to public-private dialogue in a more attractive and competitive business climate », said an official statement to Zoom. Eco.

Actors catalyst edition

Makutano 2019 will be a catalyst for all players in a new economic era and will mobilize experts and companies from different African and international countries. All around different themes such as: Digitization, the innovative assets of the DRC, the sports business in Africa, contemporary African art, family businesses, outsourcing and insurance in the DRC, women in business, public / private partnerships in health etc.

To enrich the debates and bring their eyes on the various subjects, several personalities will take part in these exchanges. This is the case for: Mahamadou Issoufou (President of the Republic of Niger), John Dramani Mahama (Former President of Ghana), Ellen-Johnson Sirleaf (Former President of Liberia), Tony Elumelu (Entrepreneur and Investor, Founder Tony Elumelu Foundation), Samuel Eto’o (high-level footballer and business man), Yves Kabongo (KBG Capital, The Icon group) and Anthony Kinzo (director general of the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments).

Also present: Laetitia Kondolo (Congolese fashion designer and Rihanna stylist), Sindika Dokolo (businessman, the largest art collector in Africa), Alain Kaninda (General Director of the Insurance Regulatory and Supervisory Authority) DRC) and Eric Monga (President of Kipay Energy.)

As a reminder, the Makutano Forum is the first action-oriented economic event organized by and for business leaders in the DRC with the desire to accelerate the development of the country. It is carried by the Makutano network which was founded by businesswoman Nicole Sulu.

With the ambition of bringing together private actors and public authorities in the country, the network has federated a new generation of business leaders who are mobilized throughout the year to meet the socio-economic challenges of the country.
