DRC: Renaissance University Hospital (ex-Mama Yemo), services to be launched soon
The Centre hospitalier universitaire Renaissance (ex Mama Yemo) is preparing for the effective launch of its services.
The assurances were given this Monday, November 24, 2024, at the end of a working session between the Minister of Finance, Doudou Fwamba Likunde Li-Botayi, and the establishment’s Management Committee.
Al Kitenge, General Manager of CHU Renaissance, said that this step was the culmination of a vision driven by the Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi.
“The transformation of Mama Yemo into the CHU Renaissance is a major achievement that embodies the will of the President of the Republic to equip our country with modern infrastructures and to meet the pressing health needs of the population”, he declared.
For Al Kitenge, it’s a question of tying up loose ends.
“We have been working closely with HE the Minister of Finance to ensure that everything is ready. With BCECO and our teams, we have been able to resolve the final details to ensure a successful commissioning. We will have the honor of counting among our first visitors the President of the Republic himself, which illustrates the importance attached to this hospital for the nation”, he asserted.
Financed 100% by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the CHU Renaissance is part of the Universal Health Coverage program, an absolute priority of the Head of State.
With its modern equipment and cutting-edge medical team, it aims to become a model for improving access to healthcare in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The General Manager of CHU Renaissance also underlined the constructive approach adopted by the Minister of Finance during the meeting, saying: “We appreciated the attentiveness and pragmatism of HE the Minister of Finance, which enabled us to quickly identify solutions to the last outstanding points”.
The forthcoming commissioning of this facility is a decisive step towards realizing the President’s vision, which places the well-being of the population at the heart of the Government’s priorities.
