DRC: SCTP revives Kinshasa-Kasangulu urban train traffic
The urban train linking the city of Kinshasa and the city of Kasangulu in Kongo Central province resumed its traffic on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, after almost three years of interruption. The kick-off was given, very early from Kasangulu, by the authorities of the Commercial Corporation of Transport and Ports (SCTP). The machine arrived in Kinshasa at 7:30 am to the satisfaction of the passengers.
« We want the traffic to stop being interrupted. This train facilitates the traffic to downtown Kinshasa at a lower cost, « said a passenger living in Kasangulu.
At SCTP, we promise to make every effort to improve the quality of services.
If the resumption of traffic on this line solves the thorny problem of mobility at a lower cost not only for the inhabitants of Kasangulu but also the outskirts of Kinshasa, some call for the vigilance of the Police as well as security services for enhance the safety of passengers and their property.
With regard to Kinshasa, mobility needs are increasing as the capacity of the SCTP to respond to them is decreasing day by day with the anarchic occupation of the spaces of the railway, analysts believe that it is more than urgent for this state society to consider prospective studies in order to develop a long-term transport recovery plan.
