DRC: the first issue of Treasury Bonds raises USD 7.4 million

A total amount of 13 billion Congolese francs (CDF), the equivalent of US$7.441 million, was paid to the Central Bank of Congo (BCC) following the first issue of Treasury bills on 8 October 2019. This is out of an estimated total amount of 36 billion CDFs submitted.
According to the Minister of Finance who provided this information, the total number of bidders is 10 with a coverage rate of 300% of the amount put out to tender, out of a proposed maximum rate of 29%.
Three bidders were served. The proposed minimum rate is 4.5% and the accepted limit rate is 5%. The percentage auctioned at the accepted limit rate is 100% and the weighted average rate is 4.85%.

Through the Treasury Bonds auctioned on 8 October at the Central Bank of Congo (BCC), the Government intends to mobilize more financial resources from the private sector to finance the country’s economy. An approach considered beneficial for the national economy.
As a reminder, DR Congo is one of the last countries on the continent to use Treasury bonds.
