The president of the Federation of Enterprises of Congo (FEC), Albert Yuma Mulimbi has attracted the attention of the new Prime Minister, Ilunga Ilunkamba, on the economic challenges that are waiting to be raised by his action at the head of the Congolese government. It was during the Ordinary General Assembly of Congolese employers held on May 23, 2019 in Kinshasa.
The revival and industrialization of the national economy, which remains the prerequisite for improving the lives of the Congolese population, is the prime challenge for the Prime Minister.
For Albert Yuma, speaking on behalf of the FEC, this must necessarily involve improving the business climate in order to attract more domestic and international investors.
The second challenge is to end the multiplicity of taxes. The boss of bosses evoked in the stride « the Tax of promotion of the industry on the mining companies. He also pinpointed the case of the Land Logistics Fee introduced for rolling stock renewal for a two-year period at the Port of Matadi but which has been extended to almost all border crossings, even where there is no of railway.
The third challenge is the reform of public administration to make it effective and more efficient. « For our country, it takes a modern administration aware of its missions and responsibilities, not the one that diverts public revenue for its own benefit and is champion of police and administrative harassment », said Albert Yuma.
The other challenge Ilunga Ilunkamba, the new Prime Minister, faces is to put an end to the illegal and irregular economic controls carried out by unauthorized departments, such as the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), the police, the prosecutor’s office , the ANR, … obviously motivated by the search for easy earnings because of the premium to the advisers.
All these scourges that block the country’s economy and the development of the DRC have motivated Congolese employers, through Albert Yuma, to make clear recommendations to the national executive. And this, beginning with « the adoption of a policy document and strategies for business climate reforms, in order to ensure the long-term reform and coordination of efforts. »
Although the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC) has, more than once, proposed measures that have never been implemented, it hopes that this dynamic of alternation could bring about a change in the benefit of the people, the state as economic operators.
