On Thursday, December 5, 2024, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe, Minister of Communication and Media, launched activities to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Bandalungwa commune.
The event was held at the Saint Michel parish in the presence of notables and commune residents, marking a significant milestone in local history.
The Bandalungwa commune is renowned for its talents in a variety of fields, including music, soccer and theater. This cultural diversity makes it a veritable cradle of tourism in Kinshasa, attracting visitors and investors alike.
The commune is often celebrated for its dynamism and creativity.
In his address, Patrick Muyaya urged the “ndalois” to unite their efforts for the development of their commune. He stressed the importance of participatory development, asserting that every citizen must rise to serve his or her homeland.
“We must be builders of an exemplary commune”, he declared, insisting on collective responsibility.
“The main concern of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister is to mobilize every citizen to rise up and serve the country. But here we want to mobilize every “ndalois” and “ndaloises” so that we can be builders of this commune, which must be an exemplary commune. I’m from Bandalungwa, and today, thanks to the will of the President of the Republic, I carry the voice of the whole Republic. We ndalois must tell ourselves that for the next 70 years, we must be this beautiful, tourist, cultural and sporting commune, which will be an example for all the communes of the city of Kinshasa”, Patrick Muyaya emphasized.
The Minister of Communication and Media expressed his determination to make Bandalungwa a model commune by its 70th anniversary. He stressed the need to improve infrastructure and promote tourism, culture and sport. This ambitious vision aims to transform Bandalungwa into a place of attraction and prosperity.
The event was attended by a number of political figures, including national MP Éric Tshikuma and the Vice-Governor of Kinshasa, Eddy Iyeli Molangi, who shared their perspectives on the future of Bandalungwa.
These political figures shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing Bandalungwa, reinforcing the importance of political support in this process.
Jared Phanzu, Bandalungwa’s elected representative, organized the series of activities under the blessing of Patrick Muyaya.
According to him, it’s important to pay tribute to the founding fathers of the commune, while at the same time creating an environment in which residents can flourish. This historical recognition is essential to inspire future generations.
Éric Tshikuma addressed the challenges of economic governance in the commune. He stressed the importance of strengthening resource mobilization to promote the economic and social progress of citizens.
Good governance will also help improve crucial sectors such as security and urban infrastructure.
A number of activities are planned up to December 8, the official commemorative date of Bandalungwa’s birth.
These events aim to strengthen the sense of belonging and promote local talent. Activities will include cultural performances, sports competitions and community forums.
A message of hope
Minister Muyaya concluded his speech by appealing to all Ndalois to become actively involved in this development dynamic.
“We all have a role to play in the future of our commune”, he asserted, underlining the importance of every citizen in this collective mission.
With these initiatives, Bandalungwa aims to become a benchmark not only in Kinshasa, but also nationwide.
The mobilization of citizens around a common project could transform this commune into a model of excellence, contributing to the country’s cultural and economic influence.
