The Congolese government has just donated 42 buses to the transport company in Congo (TRANSCO), with 54 seats. The first batch of eight vehicles was handed over to the managers of this company by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Transport and Communications, ad interim, Azarias Ruberwa Manywa. The ceremony took place Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in front of the Government House in Kinshasa.
« We are working hard to meet the basic needs of the population, especially in terms of transportation. The government has brought a sample, we have here eight inter-urban buses. This is the first batch of 42 long-distance buses that will operate the lines Kinshasa – Matadi, Kinshasa – Kikwit, Kinshasa – Tshikapa. Another lot will come from the east, mainly to connect the cities of Lubumbashi – Likasi – kolwezi, « said Azarias Ruberwa.
Officially handing over the keys to Transco’s Board Chair, Deputy Prime Minister Ruberwa encouraged staff to properly manage the equipment, which is part of the President of the Republic’s emergency program, Felix. Antoine Tshisekedi.
For his part, Transco’s managing director, Andrew John Bongi, said his company is already working to boost the expansion of its road network which consists of connecting the country’s major cities from Kinshasa by bus in the area. the sole purpose of strengthening national cohesion.
The 2019 budget provided funds for the purchase of 750 buses for Transco. For the government, this acquisition materializes the will and determination of the national executive to sustain the activities of this company. The order will soon be passed, once the most successful offer is chosen by the government.
By the end of the year, the remaining 36 buses will be delivered to Transco by Africa Financial Service / RDC.
