DRC: CENCO asks Tshisekedi to assume his responsibilities as head of state

« No obstacles to change« , is the message of the 56th Plenary Assembly of Bishops members of the National Bishops Conference of Congo (CENCO). Its content has just been revealed to the press, this Monday, June 24, 2019, by Father Donatien Nshole.
Starting from the observation that the impetus for the advent of a new era was broken by serious obstacles of all kinds compromising the future of the DRC on several levels, they made four recommendations to the President of the Republic.
Indeed, to achieve the desired change by the people and the exit of the multiform crisis, the bishops asked Felix Antoine Tshisekedi:
– to assume fully his responsibilities as Head of State;
– to change the governance system by establishing a genuine rule of law capable of making the DRC country strong and prosperous;
– to put the army in the conditions that allow it to respond effectively to its mission of defending and safeguarding the unity and integrity of the national territory;
– and to restore the prestige of the judiciary, particularly that of the Constitutional Court, so that the people have confidence in justice.

The Bishops of CENCO recall that the people spoke for a real break with the old system of governance, in order to have leaders who would put in the center of their concerns.
The most ardent wish of CENCO remains that nothing impedes the momentum of change desired by the Congolese people by delaying political subterfuges.
